DON’T Follow Your Heart

Has anyone ever told you to “just follow your heart and everything will work out”? I have, and I am about to tell you NOT to do that. It might sound a little crazy, but I will tell you why in just a second. You see, in the past, whenever I was about to undergo making the most important decisions of my life, I would consult my heart and ask it what I should do, but now I know that according to Jeremiah 17:9…

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Yes, you read that right. Our hearts are deceiving, and not just deceiving it is DESPERATELY wicked. Please don’t follow your heart. If your not convinced then read Matthew 15: 18-20.

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man,…

Your heart dictates your mouth, and your mouth is the fruit of your thoughts. You know it’s true! Come on, so your telling me that you have never wanted to kill anybody, or sleep with someone that was not your husband or wife? Please… We ALL have. Even David cried out to God and asked him to create a clean heart within him (Psalm 51:10).That is why we need to get our hearts right.

But there is good news. The Lord tells us in Ezekiel 36:26…

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

And in Romans 10:10

that if you confess with your mouth and believe with your heart that Jesus is Lord, and that God raise Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

If we believe in our hearts and confess with our mouth we will be saved and God will give us a new heart.

If your saying “Well, Jessica, you don’t what I have done. God would never accept me”, then your wrong because the Bible also says in Psalms 51:17 that…

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart- These, O God, You will not despise.

God does not despise you. God knows that you are broken and this is the place where you can offer your broken heart as a sacrifice. God loves you so much that he chose to trade his ONLY son, just for you. To me, that’s crazy love. It’s not too late, give Him your broken heart today. Let him give you a new heart made of flesh and lean on Him, rather than your heart to make the right choices in life. He will not lead you astray.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

Comfort

Comfort

By: Jessica Richard

There once was a little boy crying in his bed,

His mother came down the hall smiling and said,

“Why are you crying my child?” With gleaming eyes.

“I’m scared mother, I can’t close my eyes,

All around I see monsters in the sky.”

Then she said with a loving face,

“Look out that window,

See that place?”

“All those stars are angels…

So when your scared,

Look up in the blue,

And remember the angels are looking down on you. ”

For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. – Psalm 91:11

The Way of the Rose

By: Jessica Richard

Her leaves shoot forth,

As day and night follow.

A bud is born in secret.

A delicate, tender, pink little bud.

It is almost time for her to shine,

But she waits for just the right moment,

To light up the room,

As she prepares to leave,

Something behind.

How does the rose feel,

When she shows up to the ball in full bloom?

Does she dare to be proud?

No, not at all!

For her time is short,

And her petals,

Her beauty,

Are not for her own glory,

But the glory of The Creator whom fashioned her.

So she dances the night away in elegance and grace.

She bursts and glories with the other young buds,

She sways and rocks,

She plays her part,

As the wind leads her,

In the vast array of colors,

Till the clock tocks twelve,

And her petals fade into the background,

Drifting away as stardust in the night.

A far and distant memory.

Her heart is not lifted up because she knows,

Her time has come to an end.

Her delicate leaves are only a reminder of her beauty.

And although most of her petals are plucked,

And her seeds are exposed,

Disgruntled in fashion,

She still smiles at me sweetly,

Behind what remains,

Because she leaves behind,

Something more precious than her dancing bloom.

She leaves behind,

A hope and a future,

She leaves behind,

Her seeds.

Which will produce more blooms,

Than she could ever dream.

Red.

Yellow.

Orange.

White.

Beautiful blooms that dance in full delight.

Bud,

Bloom,

Burst,

Sway,

Dance,

Droop,

Drop,

Wilt,

Smile,

Fade,

But she leaves behind,

Her seed.

Such is the way of the rose,

Such is the way of a woman.

– Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. – Proverbs 31:30

Sound of Monotony

Sound of Monotony

By: Jessica Richard

Drip.

Drip.

Don’t let it slip,

Between your fingers;

A life,

A dream,

A hope.

Monotony set in,

And now it’s noon,

But you still got nothing to show for,

The grind,

The dirt ,

The tears,

The hurt.

Monotony set in.

The dream died down,

And real life pushed you into the ground,

And time just keeps ticking.

Consistently.

This must not be the season to celebrate,

Or to have a good time.

It’s time

To wait,

And be still.

Cause after the grind;

After the tears are sown,

Comes harvest time.

Monotony set in,

And now it’s half past two,

But wait, your starting to take root!

Now’s the time to wait,

for the seed to grow,

Cause it’s not over night,

The fruit wont show,

Till monotony dies down,

And God says,

“Its your time,

Go.”

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. – Genesis 8:22

For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. – Psalm 30:5

I’m so Fickle

I’m so Fickle

By: Jessica Richard

I hate to admit it,

but I am so fickle.

I toss and turn;

I’m double minded.

One day I love You;

the next day I don’t trust You.

It doesn’t make sense,

and I am sorry.

I’ll keep you close.

Please help me, Lord.

You know my heart,

and You are not surprised

by my fickle ways.

I’m just grateful

that you won’t stop working on me.

You won’t stop changing me

until you say,

“Well done.”

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: – Philippians 1:6

His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. – Mathew 25:23

A Heart Like Mine

A Heart Like Mine

By: Jessica Richard

A heart like mine may not seem

Like one that you would want

There’s cracks, and crumbs, and holes, and dirt that start to crumble off

But in a broken heart like mine you’ll see

A light that shines so bright

To touch another heart not broken

Another heart to find

This broken heart is contagious

Because in this heart you’ll see

Not a broken heart like mine

But The Light that set me free

Are you a Scaredy Cat?

I’m going to be honest with ya’ll. I am the biggest scaredy cat EVER. I really am, and there are far to many times that CJ (my hubby) takes advantage of this. But, the other day I realized how paranoid I really am. I was slowly creeping my way down the stairs to the basement looking left and right and making sure that there was not a goon waiting for me at the last step. even though my basement is fully finished (and not scary at all) I was still imagining a troll or a demon popping out from behind the washer as I screamed out in sheer terror. But then a Bible verse came to mind. “For He did not give me the spirit of fear, but of power love and a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7. I started whispering this to myself as I was loading the laundry and I started feeling bold enough that if something did grab my leg I could tell it what the bible says, and then punch it in the face. 🙂 But then I realized that I barley know anything about what the bible says. Thankfully while I was reading Psalms this morning I came across a verse that really stuck out to me. Psalms 31:24 says…

Be of good courage,

And He shall strengthen your heart,

All you who hope in the Lord.

Then I realized that God doesn’t expect me to be courageous naturally. He is giving me the choice, and if I say, “Yes, Lord. I trust You; I do hope in You.” Then He will strengthen my heart for me. I don’t have to be strong, I don’t have to be perfect, I might be a natural born scardey cat, but I don’t have to stay that way. The Bible says, “Behold I am making all things new.” Revelation 21:5. And that’s what I am.  I am a new creature in Christ, Jesus. (2 Corinthians 5:17). I don’t have to be afraid anymore because He went to the cross so that I could be in right standing with The Father.

Isn’t God good, ya’ll? Next time you feel afraid, remember that you DO have the authority when you remain in Him. Don’t give your power away to the enemy. And, if he still tries to scare you, then knock him out with The Word. Love ya’ll.

“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” (Jesus) Luke 10:19.
